Heifer Ranch Field Trip

Ian and I went on a field trip today with his class to Heifer Internation's Ranch in Perryville. He got to go on a hayride to see the ranch and some of the animals on the ranch. This was by far the favorite animal of the group and the water buffalo were a close second! The camel (who I can't remember what her name is!) came walking up to the fence after the tractor had stopped. Our guide was talking about the camels. How they store fat in their hump and that the meet all of the 5 m's (meat, muscle, milk, manure, and well I can't remember the other one and Ian's in bed asleep!). So, our guide, Becca, get off the hayride and stand by the fence. The camel tries to eat her hair and keeps nudging her. She KNOWS she's got something to eat! She fed her a few apples and then she told the kids that the camel likes to give kisses. She stuck a piece of apple in her mouth and the camel would take it out of her mouth. The kids thought it was HILARIOUS, of course. We saw goats, horses, pigs, and water buffalo, too!
