Flag Retirement Ceremony

The Boy Scouts retired some American Flags this weekend and the cub scouts were able to help, also. Ian and I went around 9:30 to help prepare the flags. Each stripe is cut apart very carefully. Then, the blue stars are cut apart. The grommets are also cut apart and saved. They gave each scout a few pieces of the flag to hold. They had the ceremony and then two boy scouts put the flags in the fire. Ian thought it was very cool. He brought home two grommets as they were told to give them to veterans. He brought home one for his dad and one for his uncle Trent. He couldn't wait to give it to his dad when he got home from Drill.
